Class of 2023 Knights Inducted at First Investiture of the Year
Stuart Hall inducted several young men into the Knighthood Investiture for the first group of members from the Class of 2023.
The tradition of Knighthood Investiture at Stuart Hall dates back to the school's earliest days. Designed by founder William Gallop, it is one of the distinguishing aspects of a Stuart Hall boy's seventh grade year.
It is a choice for a boy to accept the challenge of participating in this honored tradition. He must meet stringent requirements to earn this distinction. Each seventh grade boy is matched with a sponsor, and together they discuss a motto which reflects the boy's specific interests -- and his appreciation of the values that guide his life.
Under the direction of art teacher Ms. Kirsten Anderson, the boys begin designing their shields in sixth grade. Early in their seventh grade year the boys reflect upon Stuart Hall's Four Principles: Faith, Scholarship, Leadership, and Honor.
Our School's namesake is Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ. It is from her writings that we draw our School's mission: "Education is formation, not just information."
The Knighthood Investiture Program helps the boys embody lifelong self-formation, which is inherent in the journey to become a great man.
