Birthday Book Club

Stuart Hall would like to offer you an opportunity to have your child participate in a program which is of great benefit to both the school and your child.  The club was established to enhance the quality of the William M. Gallop Library through the donation of books commemorating the birthday of participating students.  In this way, parents can model interest in books and help to expand our library’s collection.  Research indicates that, particularly for boys, adult (and especially male adults) modeling of reading and interest in books is key to a boy’s interest and success in reading.

During his birthday month, your child will receive a card stating the title selected and will be given the opportunity to be the first child to check out the book from the library.  Your son’s name and birthday will be inscribed on a special bookplate inside the book. Your child will receive his book in Chapel on the first Monday of the month. This year, we are asking that you have your son return his book to the William M. Gallop Library two weeks after he receives it. On the month of your son’s birthday, he will receive the book as the first student to check it out and be able to explore it for 4 weeks (instead of just 1 week checkout).

Enrollment in the Birthday Book Club is $20.00 per child. If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact School Librarian Mr. Evan Kramer (ekramer@stuarthall.org).
